It is moving time and you have decided this time you are going use interstate mover. Good idea. Now what? Do not just call anyone to do your moving for you. Not all interstate moving companies are the same. Trust me. I have moved around a lot and used interstate moving companies the last few times. I got the idea when the last time I asked friends and family to help me move. It was such a headache with all the complaining and arguing that I decided to look into hiring interstate moving companies next time. That was one of the best decisions I have made in my life.
When you are deciding on which interstate moving companies to use treat it like an interview. The first thing I do is go to the Internet. I do a search for Nashville interstate moving companies within my zip code. I will check out their site, but really that does not tell you a whole lot. You want to make sure that you feel good about who is going to handle moving all of your breakables and furniture.
With your list of Nashville moving company names and numbers together, take a moment to write down some questions. Be prepared when calling them. This may sound like a waste of time, but it is not. If you call a company and just ask questions off the top of your head you will forget something. That something could be very important like, \”Do you move spas?\”
You want them to be able to move at your convenience, not theirs. The first question you should get out of the way is finding out that they are available during the time frame that you need. Next, find out what their cost will be. Usually they charge by the hour and have a minimum requirement. Make sure you know what that is.
Sometimes they provide extra boxes and protection for your furniture. Again, you want to make sure that you find out what the charges are for anything that they might do. You do not want any surprise fee when they arrive. One of the reasons to hire interstate moving companies is so that you do not have to do anything, but make sure that you also have a clear understanding of what, if any, you will be required to do before they begin. You want everything to be as smooth as possible.
The day of your move make sure that whatever needs to be ready before they get there has been taken care of. The last thing you want is for them to show up and you are running around like a chicken with its head cut off. When they do arrive that is usually the time that they start charging so keep that in mind. They are providing a service to you and you want to make sure that they do that service for you. Watch for anyone trying to take breaks or make calls during time that you are being charged for. You do not pay them for that.
When they are finished check your stuff for any breaks or problems. I believe that once they are gone you may find it difficult to prove anything was their fault. Address any issues with your stuff right then while they are still there. Read the receipt before you sign. Make sure that they have charged you accordingly. They should include the time that they worked and any supplies they used. If you did not see them use something they are trying to charge you for ask them about it. They should be able to tell you exactly what they used it for.
You may think that it is too costly to hire interstate moving companies. In that case, write a list of the pros and cons. It may cost more out of pocket, but there are other costs involved in moving. Once you look at everything you may find that the out of pocket expense is worth it. Just think after the interstate moving companies leave you can start hooking up appliances and moving around furniture without being tired and exhausted.
